The table is produced by using a statistical analysis of symbols allocated to families of documents present in DOCDB and classified simultaneously in the IPC and CPC schemes. Each IPC symbol is statistically mapped to the first three most significant CPC symbols.
For example, IPC symbol A01B1/08 (588, 301) (in between brackets: first the number of families bearing this IPC allocation - 588, then the number of families bearing this IPC allocation and classified in the CPC scheme - 301) can be statistically mapped to CPCs A01B1/08 (287 families out of 301 families, i.e. 95%), A01B1/20 (21 families out of 301 families, i.e. 7%) and A01B1/06 (16 families out of 301 families, i.e. 5%).
We display the three most pertinent CPC symbols, in decreasing order of relevance. Note that the confidence level of the mapping is low when the number of families statistically processed is small and/or when the statistical dispersion of the mapping of one IPC symbol to many CPC symbols is significant.
