IP strategy bootcamp
In today’s high-growth technology landscape, successful innovation depends on effective collaboration between general management, research and development (R&D) and legal teams. For an IP manager or anyone involved in strategic business decisions, strong communication and strategic insight are essential to unlock the full potential of intellectual assets.
The bootcamp focuses on both the strategic and human dimensions of IP management, combining analytical tools with soft skills. It will equip you with the competences, frameworks and strategic mindset you need to make informed decisions on IP strategy and management. You will gain a practical understanding of how to integrate IP into your company’s innovation and business strategy, ensuring that IP becomes a true driver of value creation and competitive advantage.
As well as sharing experiences and best practices, you will explore how to integrate them into a successful business model. Through interactive lectures, curated e-learning materials, practical assignments and expert coaching, you will learn how to turn IP into a driver of innovation and value creation.

Programme
To participate in the EPO IP Strategy Bootcamp, you need to attend all three live sessions and complete both assignments. By registering, you agree to actively engage in the course and contribute to a collaborative learning experience.
Session 1: 6 February 2026, 14.00 -17.00 hrs CET
Theme: What is IP strategy and the psychology behind it?

● What is an IP Strategy?
● The human and psychological side of IP decision-making
● Forum and Moodle platform briefing
● Explanation of assignments
Individual Assignment due 16 Feb 23h59 CET:
Read the IP strategy case studies of three selected companies. Identify its key IP assets and
explain how they support business objectives using monopoly theory. Identify benefits and
limitations of each approach.
Session 2: 17 February 2026, 14.00-17.00 hrs CET
Theme: Coaching and soft skills for IP Strategy
● Fireside chat on video insights (Q&A) - speakers Robert Harrison and Peter Bittner (tbc);

● Benjamin Delsol & Maier Fenster – “How to Pitch Your IP Strategy to the C-Suite”
Agenda Highlights:
● Debrief of individual assignments with I3PM coaches
● Workshop: Launch of group assignment
Group Assignment · due on 7 March 23h59 CET: using the Cosmed case study, teams act as senior vice-presidents of IP pitching a new IP strategy to their CEO for an additional €2 million budget. Prepare a 9-10-minute pitch covering at least three of the six guiding strategic questions
Session 3: 10 March 2026, 14.00-17.00 hrs CET
Theme: Leadership, Communication & IP Strategy in Practice
Format: Group Presentations and expert Feedback
Agenda Highlights:
● Group pitches (10 min each + 5 min Q&A with I3PM coaches acting as “CEOs”)
● Panel feedback and key learnings
● Participant reflections and wrap-up
● Course evaluation
