The EPO has published its 2017 Environmental Report, which presents environmental data and reports on progress the Office achieved in its environmental performance across all EPO locations in Berlin, Munich, The Hague and Vienna.

Last year, we once more reduced our direct environmental impact, compared with 2016: consumption of electricity fell by 3.1% across all four sites, overall CO2 emissions by 3.8% and total water consumption by 5.6%. In addition to technical measures to reduce our CO2 footprint, we took actions that have an indirect impact on the environment, such as setting up additional charging stations for electric cars.

The competent auditing bodies in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands have confirmed the EPO's compliance with the European Union Eco‑Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) for the year 2017.

At the EPO, we recognise that we are part of a wider community, and take seriously our responsibility towards the environment and the cities we work in. That is why we are striving to reduce our impact on the environment and our surroundings. We have implemented our environmental policy in accordance with Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) regulations which provide a strategic framework for our report.
