We are deeply saddened by the attack that took place during the Christopher Street Day celebrations in Berlin over the weekend, resulting in the loss of life and injuries to many participants. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends, and everyone affected by these events.
We stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ colleagues and the wider LGBTQ+ community in Berlin, across Europe and beyond. We stand with all Berliners, from all backgrounds, faiths and beliefs: a diversity which underpins the open and inclusive spirit of that city. Diversity, inclusion and respect are fundamental values of the European Patent Office (EPO), and we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that everyone can live, work and celebrate who they are in safety and dignity.
As we look ahead to WorldPride Amsterdam, we remain united in our support for LGBTQ+ communities and in our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels safe, respected and able to be themselves.
As a sign of our solidarity, the Pride flag recently raised at the EPO site in The Hague is flying at half-mast today.
